Camden Market is open every day of the week — one of the things that makes it such a popular destination for both tourists and locals. Here’s a full breakdown of opening times for each area of the market, plus tips on when to go to get the most out of your visit.
Camden Market Opening Times (2026)
Camden Market as a whole is open daily, but there are four distinct market areas and each has slightly different arrangements. The core hours across all areas are:
- Monday to Friday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Saturday: 10:00am – 7:00pm
- Sunday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
Some food stalls and indoor vendors stay open later, particularly on weekends. The market never fully closes — there are always some stalls trading even on quieter weekdays.
Opening Times by Market Area
Camden Lock Market
The most central area, right on the canal at Camden Lock Place. Open daily 10:00am–6:00pm (later on weekends). This is the most visited section and has the best concentration of food stalls, independent shops, and jewellery vendors. Expect the biggest crowds here on weekend afternoons.
Stables Market
The largest section, running along Chalk Farm Road. Open daily 10:00am–6:00pm. This is where you’ll find the bulk of the vintage clothing, antiques, street art, records, and more unusual finds. The Stables is where serious shoppers come — it’s larger, slightly quieter than the Lock area, and has a better ratio of genuine finds to tourist tat.
Camden Lock Village
A smaller indoor/outdoor area between the Lock and the High Street. Open daily 10:00am–6:00pm. Good for fashion, gifts, and accessories in a slightly more curated setting. Less crowded than Camden Lock Market.
Buck Street Market
Open daily but largely aimed at tourists — generic merchandise, phone cases, novelty items. Open from 10:00am. Honestly, not worth your time unless you specifically want that kind of thing.
Camden Market on Bank Holidays
Camden Market generally stays open on UK bank holidays — including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day — though some individual stallholders may close. The market tends to be unusually busy on bank holidays as many people are off work and in the area. If you’re planning to visit on a bank holiday, expect weekend-level crowds even on a Monday.
The one exception is Christmas Day — the market is closed on 25th December.
Best Time to Visit Camden Market
Opening time strictly isn’t the most useful question — when to go within those hours matters more. Here’s the honest breakdown:
- Weekday mornings (10am–1pm) — the best time by far. Calm, easy to browse, stallholders have time to chat, and you can actually move through the Stables without being jostled. If you have flexibility, come on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
- Weekend mornings (10am–12pm) — still manageable, especially in the Stables Market. Gets significantly busier from noon onwards.
- Saturday afternoon (12pm–5pm) — peak crowds. The Lock area in particular gets genuinely packed. Come if you want the atmosphere, but expect queues at food stalls and difficulty browsing properly.
- Sunday afternoon — slightly quieter than Saturday but still busy. Good if Saturday doesn’t work for you.
Getting to Camden Market
Camden Town tube station is directly outside the market entrance on Camden High Street — it’s a 2-minute walk from the gates. The Northern Line runs frequently from central London. See our full guide to getting to Camden Market for all transport options including bus, train and walking routes.
